Gary works all over Southern Alberta—from Vulcan to Waterton

Gary got into real estate 28 years ago. Based out of RE/MAX Real Estate-Lethbridge, he knows the Southern Alberta market better than most as he’s lived there all his life. Gary works all over Southern Alberta—north to Vulcan and south to Waterton Park.

“I’m not opposed to driving 60 miles to help a client,” he said.

As for real estate, Gary does it all—commercial and residential real estate as well as farms and acreages. Over his career, he has helped his clients sell or buy 1,820 houses, and his best year was 1996 when he sold 92 houses! Eighty per cent of his business is from referrals from former clients.

His get ‘er done attitude has earned him Realtor® of the Year and a place in the Hall of Fame with RE/MAX Real Estate.

What he likes most about his work is helping people. Client after client will tell you how Gary goes out of his way to be of assistance, including lending his truck for moving people’s belongings.

“I help people,” Gary said. “Getting paid is the bonus.”

Gary Klassen’s journey from business to RE/MAX in Lethbridge

Gary’s been in the business world most of his life. His father owned a general store where Gary started working as a kid. He has worked in several industries and owned his own business for 22 years. His diverse business experience helps explain his love of commercial real estate.

He became a Realtor® in 1992 and joined the RE/MAX team in 2000.

“I was excited to be in the company of good, solid Realtors® who believe in ‘rolling up their sleeves’ for clients,” Gary said. “RE/MAX believes in excellence and more importantly they stand behind their brand with pride.”

He enjoys all aspects of being a Realtor®, and he admits he loves negotiating deals for his clients.

But the main reason he’s in real estate is that he likes helping people.

“I care about the people,” he said.

And Gary knows real estate from all sides as he himself owns several rental properties.

Gary loves living in Southern Alberta and it shows

Gary is also a husband, father and grandfather with many diverse hobbies: shooting black powder, camping, touring on motorbikes and rebuilding antique cars.

He built his first dune buggie at 16 and enjoys road trips across Canada and into the U.S.

He owns 18 vehicles at the moment, including a motorcycle, truck, Jeep, motorhome, boat and several vintage cars such as a Mustang GT convertible and the ‘57 Chevy he is currently rebuilding. He’s been president of the Coaldale Custom Cruisers for 15 years.

How does a busy Realtor® find time for all those hobbies? It comes down to that same approach: Be proactive and work hard.
